Brandon Roy: The Natural That No One Noticed

Two nights after a miraculous home victory... Scratch that.

Two nights after a routine home victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, Brandon Roy and the Blazers are warming-up to play yet another NBA game. ESPN is in town, the Rose Garden is sold out, and the players are ready to go. Nothing new right?

Well here's to hoping the national Fan base recognizes something new tonight.

If all goes well, the Blazers will win.

If all goes really well, Brandon Roy will show the average Fan that he deserves to be a household name.

If the nationally televised, December 25 game against the Denver nuggets, in which Brandon scored 41 points on 61% shooting with 4 assists and 6 rebounds, didn't get their attention, then the 32 point performance on 9 of 11 shooting against the Lakers must have. If that didn't, what will?

What if i told you that he had scored 23 points or more in 16 straight games?

What if i told you that he is one of 4 players to average 23 points 5 assists and 5 rebounds? The other players being Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James.

What if I told you he has more game winning shots than LeBron?

Would you be surprised if i told you he was 9th in the NBA all star voting for guards? Behind the likes of Tracy McGrady and Jason Kidd.

If all goes well tonight, Brandon shows well and the blazers win; the only surprise being how much this young guard has to do to get the respect of the fans.

No team has gone through more adversity than the Blazers. With Injuries to nearly half of last years roster it is staggering to think they would be 1/2 a game back from the Northwest division lead.

Injuries to Key Players like Greg Oden, Joel Pryzbilla, Nic Batum, Rudy Fernandez, and Travis outlaw. Even the coach, Owner, and assistant coach have been sidelined.

Paul Allen has cancer, Coach McMillan ruptured his Achilles tendon, and Assistant Maurice Lucas has bladder cancer.

The only steady hand has been Roy; hitting shots and winning the hearts of the fans on and off the court; He is everything you want your superstar to be.

He doesn't deserve to be 9th in the NBA voting.

He isn't a second rate guard.

Roy is the real deal

I have just one more question for you.

Have you watched Roy play?
